December 2024 Meeting Minutes read/approved at January 2025 Meeting

1/7/2025

December 3rd Regular Town Meeting

Members present were Brad, Kiel, Steve, Dana, and Jeff. Brad called the meeting to order at 7. Jeff read the previous meeting minutes, and Kiel made a motion to accept the minutes without correction. Steve seconded, motion voted on and carried. Dana read the Treasurer's report and confirmed that the clerk and treasurer account balance. Public comment period was opened but no public comment occurred. Jeff reported there were no liquor or other license types received. Brad moved to discussing the Dog Contract with Zimmerman’s. Brad shared the costs of Zimmerman’s vs the Chippewa County Humane society. The board discussed that Zimmerman’s is closer and the mileage to run dogs to Chippewa County Humane Society adds up over time. Kiel made a motion to renew the year long dog contract with Zimmerman’s for $400.00. Steve seconded the motion, motion was voted on and carried.
The board moved to discuss road work next. Brad shared his findings about speed limit question from the last meeting. He shared that a speed study would need to be completed and the county charges $1,500.00 for that. The county requires a speed study to be completed before further enforceable ordinances can take place. The board discussed that option, putting up advisory signs for speed,  and putting up speed limit signs that legally can not be enforced. The board discussed that the WTA is currently working to change the law to allow towns to have the ability to set speed limits without the county but that was an on going process. The board discussed further and ultimately decided to table the topic for now. The board discussed that Westaby and Dale took care of beavers, that Cody Overgaurd was still trapping them, and that Dale purchased a new grease gun for the town shop.  Dale also shared that the road sign on 327 and D was now missing and that the sign would be added to the spring order list. Caucus meeting and regular meeting were going to be taking place in January, and the meeting date of Tuesday Jan, 7th at 7pm was set. Kiel made a motion, Steve seconded, motion carried, meeting adjourned.
