Town of Colburn Monthly Meeting July 12, 2022 Board members present were Brad Hompe, Steve Sime, Kiel Morello, Dana Hartzell and Kathy Yeager Brad Called the meeting to order and Kathy presented the minutes from the June meeting. Kiel made a motion to approve-seconded by Steve. Motion carried. Dana presented the Treasurer’s report. Clerk and Treasurer reported balancing.
Public Comment: Mike Olin mention about that the culvert by the north boat landing was taken out and was not replaced. He was wondering who needs to be contacted about replacement. Brad informed him that the DNR should be the contact because they own the land there. He also said that him and John Goodman are brucine up the maps by the boat landings. Mike asked if the town could talk to the county about lifting the ATV/UTV restrictions for the day use park. Brad said the town is 100% for lifting the restrictions but the county is not. The town board will be in support of another club if they would pursue this. Ken Malhako mention that on Shiply Road the ATV sign is gone. Otter Lake Booster Club applied for a picnic license and Amber Nagel applied for an operator’s license. The fees are paid for but Amber did not return her operator’s license. Kiel made a motion to approve the licenses with the pending receiving the signed application from Amber. Steve second motion carried. Updates on: 170th – got paved on Friday, July 8th. A special thank you to Dale, Dale, and LuAnn for directing traffic and dealing with campers and Chippewa County. The shouldering should be done in the next few weeks. The next section, from the bridge to the next intersection, the town received the non-discretionary LRIP grant application notice. Brad called to get a pulverizing bid, the pulverizing and adding to the base could get done by this fall. Paving could be done next summer. 350th – Brad had not heard anything on the 350th grant. Brad received a letter from Ayres on behave of Chippewa County stating that they will be redoing the covered bridge on G in 2024. They will be starting in June and it will take 4 to 5 months. They will be holding a public comment period by writing only. The note stated that a detour route will not be signed. Brad will submit the town concerns about no detour signage and our town road limits. Brad proposed an increase to the road crew’s wages. He mentioned they do a great job and he feels the town needs to stay competitive with other area towns. Currently our wage is $20 per hour while other area town range from $22.50 to $30 an hour. Kiel made a motion to approve an increase the pay for road crew to $25, Steve seconded, motion carried. The increase will start with the next pay period. Road work update:
Town roof is completed. Kathy is trying to find a chief inspector. Please let her know if you know of someone. Expenditures were reviewed and approved by the board.
