Meeting Minutes September 5th, 2023 Board of Review Meeting
Members present were Brad, Kiel, Steve, and Jeff. (Natallie the assessor was also present.) Meeting called to order by Brad, and Brad confirmed that Jeff had all appropriate notice materials posted and a copy of receipt as well. Kiel made a motion to nominate Brad, Steve seconded the motion. Motion carried. Jeff confirmed Brad’s training as well.. Adoption of policy of sworn telephone and written testimony, was read verbatim via Brad at the BOR. Keil made a motion to accept, Steve seconded, motion was voted on and was carried unanimously. Brad also read another policy known as an adoption of a request of waiver of BOR. Brad read the policy verbatim. Kiel made a motion accept as is, Steve seconded the motion, motion was voted on and was carried unanimously. Receipt of signature sheet by clerk and roll book by assessor was confirmed. No corrections or errors were noted by assessor, All error adjustments were concluded before the meeting. No notices of objections. Natallie confirmed there were only 21 changes at the time of the open book session. She also confirmed there were no waivers submitted as well. Town resident Pete Roth, who had previously set up clarification questions with the board and Nataillie was present. Pete was clarifying tax questions regarding the purchasing of his property, the removal of the existing buildings, and then the reconstruction of the new building. The property in question resided on two tax parcels and due to the timing of the demolition, Natailie made the correct adjustments based on what parts of the building were present at the time of the year. Pete also had questions regarding class 3 ag tax brackets due to maple sap. Pete and Nataillie confirmed that tapped forests or managed forest operate at the low end (20) or high end (30-40) taps per acre. Natalie confirmed the changes and made appropriate adjustments to the tax roll book. Brad asked clarification questions regarding how the assessment was reached from township to township, and Natailie stated that she would have to contact the state/county to confirm how the values were set for other areas that Pete owns resident outside of the township. No other adjustments or public comments were brought forward. Kiel made a motion to adjourn the BOR meeting, Steve seconded the motion, motion was voted on and motion carried unanimously.
